To stay healthy, doctors constantly remind us that we need regular physical activity and a healthy diet. Well, this advice also applies to your dog.
Green vegetables for excellent health
Many winter viruses can weaken your pet's immune system. That's why it's crucial to pay attention to their diet. But not just in winter! Rodney Habib, a Canadian author and animal rights advocate, has revealed the three healthiest foods for your pet. Stay tuned to find out more.
Broccoli
Broccoli is one of the vegetables richest in vitamins and minerals. Therefore, it is a great ally for your dog's health.
Firstly, it is an anti-cancer food thanks to sulforaphane, indole-3 and kaempferol. According to a study conducted in 2006, these three components have the ability to destroy cancer cells.

Broccoli also contains fiber and minerals for better digestion. Be careful not to give your child too much, as this could have the opposite effect. In excess, broccoli can cause stomach problems.
And finally, it fights diabetes. According to a study published in Science Translational Medicine , its antioxidants reduce blood glucose, thus limiting the risk of diabetes.
Kale
Also known as "curly kale," kale is excellent for our health and that of dogs. It contains vitamin K, potassium, calcium, magnesium, beta-carotene, and isothiocyanate. This molecule has antioxidant properties and helps eliminate toxins from the body.

Brussels sprouts
As children, Brussels sprouts didn't leave us with fond memories. Yet, this vegetable is excellent for our health. It would be a shame not to let your dog benefit from it. It's rich in beta-carotene, vitamins B6 and B9, antioxidants, and chlorophyll. Chlorophyll strengthens the immune system, lowers blood pressure, and eliminates toxins from the body.

How do you prepare these vegetables?
Whatever you do, don't cook them! According to a British study published in the British Journal of Nutrition, cooking them for just 9 minutes destroys more than half of the nutrients in cruciferous vegetables. To preserve their goodness, chop them into pieces or blend them. If you still want to serve them hot, steam them.
Regarding the quantity, start by putting a teaspoon of cabbage on top of his kibble. Your dog might not like the taste. If not, increase the portion slightly.
And if your dog is turning his nose up at vegetables, offer him our delicious treats that are high in protein and low in fat.
